The Global Initiative for Children's Surgery (GICS) was established in 2016 to advance the access and quality of safe surgical and anaesthesia care for children in resource-limited settings.1 GICS is a global consortium of providers, institutions and organizations. Over half of its members originate from low and low-middle income countries (LMICs) and span multiple paediatric surgical specialities.1
