Functional implications of camkii alternative splicing
Abstract Ca2+/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is known to be a crucial regulator in the post‐synapse during long‐term potentiation. This important protein has been the subject of many studies centered on understanding memory at the molecular, cellular, and organismic level. CaMKII is encoded by four genes in humans, all of which undergo alternative splicing at the RNA level, leading to an enormous diversity of expressed proteins. Advances in sequencing technologies have facilitated...

Informed Feature Regularization in Voxelwise Modeling for Naturalistic fMRI Experiments
Abstract Voxelwise modeling is a powerful framework to predict single‐voxel functional selectivity for the stimulus features that exist in complex natural stimuli. Yet, because VM disregards potential correlations across stimulus features or neighboring voxels, it may yield suboptimal sensitivity in measuring functional selectivity in the presence of high levels of measurement noise. Here, we introduce a novel voxelwise modeling approach that simultaneously utilizes stimulus correlations in model...

Cytoplasmic localization of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)‐related TDP‐43 proteins modulates stress‐granule formation
Abstract TDP‐43 is an RNA/DNA‐binding protein associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Under pathological conditions, TDP‐43 exported from the nucleus accumulates in the cytoplasm, forming inclusion bodies. However, the molecular mechanisms that contribute to such aggregation are unclear. The pathogenic processes that lead to aggregation in ALS were investigated by analyzing the effects of wildtype human TDP‐43 or with mutations in the nuclear‐localization sequence (NLS) or those associated...
