PD‐L1 profiling was recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as a companion diagnostic for anti‐PD1 treatment in patients with head and neck cancer, ushering in a new era for precision medicine. However, the routine development and implementation of such testing is still limited by current clinical workflows and the lack of better and more comprehensive alternatives. In this review, the authors discuss the real‐world challenges of clinically based biomarker testing and highlight the...

A 77-year-old woman with a rare oral intraductal papilloma arising from the minor salivary gland located on the floor of the mouth and causing the mucus retention is reported. Microscopically, the lesion was characterized by unicystic cavity exhibiting the lumen partially filled by papillary projections of the ductal epithelium with varying degree of oncocytic metaplasia. Based on the histopathological analysis, the differential diagnosis of oral intraductal papillomas and other ductal neoplasms...

Abstract Background We aimed to determine the indication of fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) for parathyroid adenoma (PA)‐suspected nodules and the cytological features of PA, and to discuss the ancillary techniques for diagnostic confirmation. Method Clinical, cytological, and histological examinations of 15 PA patients (4.0% of all PA resected patients) were conducted through FNA on 16 nodules. We also examined the cytological preparations of 10 follicular neoplasms (FNs) and 10 poorly differentiated...

The main aim of this study was to test whether the size molar patterns observed in the Sima de los Huesos (SH) Middle Pleistocene site (Sierra de Atapuerca, Spain) fit the so‐called inhibitory cascade model. Using a planimeter, we have measured the crown area of all lower permanent SH molars in photographs. Our results indicate that the majority of the SH individuals are within the 95% confidence interval of the inhibitory cascade model. Abstract The Middle Pleistocene Sima de los Huesos (SH)...
Accessory bones in the region of the elbow are rare variants with high clinical significance as they may be confused with avulsion fractures. Their prevalence is less than 1%, with the most common localization slightly distal to the medial epicondyle of the humerus. Abstract Accessory bones in the region of the elbow are rare variants with high clinical significance as they may be confused with avulsion fractures. We investigated their prevalence and performed a statistical analysis to support...
