C-Myc in mucinous colloid carcinoma of the lung
We have read with great interest the article by Jurmeister et al on NGS findings in lung cancer [1]. One of the new findings was that of c-MYC gene abnormalities in most of the studied colloid carcinomas. We had the opportunity to detect c-Myc protein expression in this rare type of lung carcinoma on immunohistochemistry (Fig. 1). The staining intensity was moderate to strong, in more than 50% of the tumor cells. Tumor cells also expressed heterogeneously TTF1, cytokeratin CK20, CK7, CK5/6, CDX2...

Role of massa intermedia in human neurocognitive processing
Abstract Massa intermedia (MI) is an inconsistent midline structure in the human brain that is absent in approximately 30% of the population. Absence of MI is seen more frequently in schizophrenia spectrum disorder and bipolar disorder. However, very little is known about the normal role of MI in the human brain. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of human MI in cortical and subcortical cognitive processing as determined by differences between subjects with and...

Recently, Keskitalo et al presented a study focused on the association of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) cell differential counts (CDCs) with the smoking habits and the number of asbestos bodies (ABs) in a population of patients with asbestosis.1 They also dealt with the dependence between the survival time of the patients and the BALF CDCs, as well as the number of ABs. However, we have serious concerns about the correctness of the statistical analysis used in the study. It is crucial to observe...
