Robotics in dentistry
Pallavi K Das, S Hari, Shalini Nair, Anoop Kumar

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):37-39

Robots are one of the most sophisticated creations of human. In many ways, they are far ahead of their creator. Their unmatchable precision and fatigue-free working ability can be incorporated into our field, which will ease our job. However, their application in dentistry is still a less traveled road. The main aim of this article is to briefly review the applications of robotics in dentistry.

An overview of ergonomics in dentistry
Rutuja Chandrashekhar Deshmuk, Sheiba Ronald Gomes, Siddharth S Acharya, Sneha C Khanapure

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):40-45

Ergonomics is a branch of applied science pertaining to the design and application of products and procedures for safety and maximum productivity. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) or cumulative trauma disorders are disorders that affect the muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments, cartilages, joints, and spinal discs. These are caused due to repetitive movements, excessive application of force, and incorrect posture and hence are the most common occupational hazard among the dental professionals. This review article is an overview of various articles and studies conducted that analyze the prevalence, risk factors, signs and symptoms of MSDs, and also describe ergonomic methods, procedures, and practices to prevent and palliate the symptoms of MSDs.

Heal and seal: Management of an open apex with mineral trioxide aggregate apexification
Prachi Maniar, Dipti Choksi, Barkha Idnani

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):46-48

The use of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) as an alternative material to calcium hydroxide for apexification has gained popularity over reasons such as good sealing ability and biocompatibility and to avoid longer periodic appointments. The case report presents use of MTA as an apical plug for an open apex central incisor which gives a favorable outcome with periapical lesion.

Treatment of peri-implantitis with implantoplasty and diode laser

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):49-53

Dental implant surgery has developed to a widely used procedure for dental rehabilitation and is a secure and predictable procedure. But, some local and systemic risk factors can result in higher failure rates and affect implant survival. Peri-implant disease, namely peri-implantitis, have been extensively studied in present era as a major cause of implant failure. There are various treatment modalities to treat peri-implantitis, which give satisfactory results and improve survival rate of implant. Though it is difficult to determine what approach will improve implant survival, present case report is an attempt to treat peri-implantitis with implantoplasty and diode laser followed by regenerative periodontal therapy.

Dental transposition of Mx.C.I2 and associated with supernumerary teeth
Priyank Seth, Vanishree Shivakumar Halasagundhi, Anand S Tegginamani, Ashish Kumar Singh

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):54-55

Tooth transposition is a reversal of position between two teeth in the same quadrant of the dental arch, which can be complete tooth transposition or incomplete tooth transposition, multifactorial causes, and may be associated with other dental anomalies; tooth transposition can be considered a rare phenomenon. Here, we present dental transposition of the central and lateral incisor and associated with supernumerary teeth.

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor of the maxilla
Manisha Sahu, Hema Suryawanshi

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):56-59

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a distinct odontogenic tumor, which accounts for about 3%–7% of all odontogenic tumors. It is a benign (hamartomatous), noninvasive lesion with slow but progressive growth. It is predominantly found in young female patients, located more often in the maxilla associated with an unerupted permanent tooth. Treatment is conservative surgical excision, and the prognosis is excellent. Here, we report a case of AOT in the maxilla in a young male aged 14 years.

Primary gnathic aneurysmal bone cyst in a child patient
Ravinder Prakash, Neeta Sharma, R Guruprasad, Satish Verma

Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research 2019 5(2):60-63

Aneurysmal bone cyst(ABC) is a benign bone tumour which mainly affects long bones and rarely affects craniofacial bones. It is relatively rare lesion and exhibit variable clinical and radiographic presentations. They are two types “primary” when present solely and “secondary” when preceded by other bony tumors. Radiographically, it exhibits unilocular to multilocular appearance with cortical plates' expansion; and fluid level on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Histopathologically, it shows three types: solid, mixed, and vascular. The surgical resection is the treatment of choice wing to its high recurrence rate. We present here a rare case of ABC in a 9-year-old male patient present in the anterior mandible crossing midline.
