Folgertech 2020 Prusa i3 from 2014 - Flashed to Marlin 2.0 but Z-axis not moving
I had a perfectly-working Prusa i3 variant from Folgertech, I decided to flash the firmware to Marlin 2.0. After flashing, the z-axis will not move up and the X and Y home commands (G28 X Y) don't move their respective axis, but seems like they trigger the Z motor (makes noise but doesn't move). G0 and G1 commands on the X and Y axis works. G0 and G1 commands on the Z-axis does not work, it seems to rotate the motors a few degrees and then stops (but still makes noise). I measured the A4988...

Great prints then suddenly terrible quality
I've been printing with my Ender 3 for a while now and it's been great. I've had very few problems - depending on my settings, these are my typical first layers: However with no settings or temperature changes and attempting to print the same files, I am now getting this issue with every print - The lines lay down and adhere fine, but if I watch carefully it looks as if the nozzle is causing the previous line to lift and warp. I have checked belt tensions, calibrated all axes. The prints...

Interferon-Induced Transmembrane Proteins Inhibit Cell Fusion Mediated by Trophoblast Syncytins [Immunology]
Type I interferon (IFN) induced by virus infections during pregnancy can cause placental damage, but the mechanisms and identities of IFN-stimulated genes that are involved in this damage remain under investigation. The IFN-induced transmembrane proteins (IFITMs) inhibit virus infections by preventing virus membrane fusion with cells and by inhibiting fusion of infected cells (syncytialization). Fusion of placental trophoblasts via expression of endogenous retroviral fusogens known as syncytins forms...

Imbalance in glycemic control between the treatment and placebo groups in cardiovascular outcome trials in type 2 diabetes
Abstract Background Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is accepted as the most reliable marker for assessing chronic glycemia. The present study aimed to investigate glycemic control in cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs) performed by pharmaceutical sponsors, at the request of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that newer hypoglycemic agents do not increase cardiovascular risk for patients with type 2 diabetes....

Divergence in hormone signalling links local adaptation and hybrid failure [NEW RESULTS]
Natural selection is a major driver for the origins of adaptations and new species. Whether or not the processes driving adaptation and speciation share a molecular basis remains largely unknown. Here, we show that divergence in hormone signalling contributed to the evolution of complex adaptations and intrinsic reproductive isolation in the Australian wildflower Senecio lautus. We provide evidence that differences in the auxin pathway, a hormone required for plant growth and development, has led...

Immunopeptidomics of colorectal cancer organoids reveals a sparse HLA class I neoantigen landscape and no increase in neoantigens with interferon or MEK-inhibitor treatment
Abstract Background Patient derived organoids (PDOs) can be established from colorectal cancers (CRCs) as in vitro models to interrogate cancer biology and its clinical relevance. We applied mass spectrometry (MS) immunopeptidomics to investigate neoantigen presentation and whether this can be augmented through interferon gamma (IFNγ) or MEK-inhibitor treatment. Methods...
